Wonque - aka “wonk” - is described as “an expert who studies a subject or issue thoroughly and excessively.” We may not be experts, but we definitely study issues excessively … some may say, “obsessively.”

When you break “wonque” down in Spanglish, it’s “won que?” or, “won what?” This is exactly how we feel. With much of media reverting to propaganda instead of objective reporting; with the gaps between rich and poor, educated and ignorant, widening exponentially; and with people continuing to die from lack of adequate food and healthcare, from preventable diseases, and from useless wars … we wonder, “what have we won?”
